Jeremiah Alspaugh spent much of his childhood at the creek or local pond, where he developed a passion for fishing. Although he enjoyed catching bass, he found himself increasingly drawn to catfishing, captivated by the strong hits and challenging fights that catfish offered. At the age of 14, Jeremiah was invited to fish for flathead catfish on a nearby river. That night, after catching nearly 20 flatheads, his love for catfishing turned into an obsession. Determined to pursue this passion further, he worked tirelessly over the summer, saving every penny to purchase a boat. To this day, he still runs that same boat, spending every available moment chasing flatheads and honing his skills.
Jeremiah Alspaugh dedicated countless hours on the water, experimenting with various techniques to master the art of catching big flathead catfish. Through trial and error, he gradually became more consistent in his success. At the age of 16, he decided to enter his first fishing tournament, where he secured 3rd place and won the award for the biggest fish. This achievement fueled his determination to continue improving and winning tournaments. Over the years, Jeremiah accumulated numerous tournament victories and top placements, which led to others seeking his expertise and inviting him to fish with them. Realizing his dream of making a living from fishing, he seized the opportunity nearly four years ago. Now, at 26, he continues to pursue his passion for fishing as a full-time career.
Jeremiah Alspaugh operates a 20-foot custom Alweld jet boat equipped with a 2021 115/80 jet engine. Designed with a wide, open layout, the boat offers exceptional stability, making it ideal for shallow-water fishing in the rocky rivers he navigates. Outfitted with the latest technology and tools, this boat is perfectly suited for targeting flathead catfish and other species. Jeremiah can comfortably accommodate up to four clients on board, ensuring a top-tier fishing experience for everyone.
During a typical 5-hour outing, clients can expect to boat 12-15 flathead catfish. However, on longer trips of 8 to 10 hours, it’s not uncommon to catch 25 or more fish, with almost a guaranteed chance of landing a couple of big ones. On many of these extended outings, over 30 fish are often brought in. Jeremiah advises against all-night fishing for those who have difficulty staying awake, as these trips can be demanding. He always strives to provide the best experience possible, but there will be both exceptional nights and challenging ones. In keeping with his commitment to client satisfaction, Jeremiah guarantees, “No fish, no pay!”—it’s his job to ensure a successful fishing experience.
